Saving Lives
Maryhaven Research Institute
The Maryhaven Research Institute, under the leadership of Dr. Gregory Brigham, Chief Research Officer, was created in 2001 and has become one of the nation's leaders in its mission to use science to improve treatment.
The Maryhaven Research Institute was founded after the 1998 Institute of Medicine National Academy of Sciences published a report entitled, "Bridging the Gap Between Practice and Research: Forging Partnerships with Community-Based Drug and Alcohol Treatment." This report identified a critical gap between research and practice in the addictions treatment field. As a result of this study, the National Institute on Drug Abuse funded development of a National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network with a goal "to improve drug abuse treatment throughout the nation." Maryhaven Research Institute has taken part in several research studies since 2001.
